Answer
For Technical levels such as Network Adminstrator you may eventually need an associates degree. however, many often take online study courses and then take the various certification exams (such as, Microsoft's MCP). Some companies will hire with only certifications needed whereas other companies may wish you to have an A.A.S. or A.S. degree.
If you wish to become a network engineer then many companies seek someone with a bachelors degree along with some of the professional level certifications such as CISCO's CCIE or Microsoft's MCSE. To progress further someone might consider a Master's degree. There are also some "3-2" type programs where you get your Engineering Degree (Master's level) by entering a college where you take 3 years for your bachelors, then 2 more years to become an engineer.
To enter into Network Management you typically need at least a bachelor's degree in InfoTech, Networking or Computer Science OR several years experience in InfoTech along with a related B.S. Begree such as Business Administration.
As always, experience counts but many corporations do have entry level recent graduate jobs where the company hires you right after graduation and will train you.
Hope this helps...feel free to ask more if wished.
