With the rising levels of competition, we can expect to pay less for a technology, and at the same time receive better quality. This is the basis of a competitive market. The downside would be the localization of markets. Many advance technologies will only be produced in developed parts of the world, limiting the spread of wealth and knowledge to lesser developed regions.
