- carbon - positive electrode
- zinc - negative electrode
- potassium, oxygen, hydrogen (as potassium hydroxide and water) - electrolyte
- manganese, oxygen (as manganese dioxide) - catalyst to prevent formation of hydrogen gas bubbles
- carbon, oxygen, hydrogen (as paper) - carrier for electrolyte and insulator
- iron, carbon, etc. (as steel) - outer jacket to prevent leaks
- etc.
