Install the hardware i.e the salt water chlorinator, and timing equipment, throw the right amount of salt into the pool and you may have to re balance the water a little, a pool shop will be able to advise you on this and you are ready to go.

There is a long list of things that you should do, but a short list of things you must do. The only two things you must do are add salt and buy a chlorine generator. Other things you should do are: Upgrade your rail goods (ladder and handrails) to salt friendly versions. Thoroughly coat the rail sockets in the concrete with a high quality long lasting lubricant. Connect sacrificial anodes to all metal components including the light. Place an anode in the skimmer and pump baskets. Make sure all bonding wires and lugs are tight and unbroken. Seal the concrete decking each year. Discontinue using copper based algaecides. If you have a heater, install a bypass so that salt water does not enter it when not in use. Hope that helps... thepoolandspawarehouse.com

Salt and a saltwater chlorine generator which is put in-line after the filtration system. Most saltwater chlorinaters work with sodium chloride but there is one type that works with magnesium and potassium chloride which is better for the swimmer and the environment,
