Vitech As a Computer Scientist working in hospitals I was tasked with interfacing an instrument called a Vitech to an LIS (Laboratory Information System). The instrument could identify organisms or measure the organism's sensitivity (or susceptibility) to certain antibiotics. The antibiotics on the clear plastic "card" would correspond with those in the hospital's formulary. The culture to be isolated is first grown using an incubator by a medical technologist in a petri dish, then introduced to the Vitech card in a liquid suspension. The Instrument then continues to incubate (if it can) the bacteria or fungus inside the card; giving a progress reports to the LIS every 4 hours. The instrument I worked with used the Unix operating system. See: http://www.biomerieux.com/ I do not work for or have any financial interest in this company
there are quite a lot that microbiologists use in their day to day life.they are as follows:
petri plates, test tubes, conical flasks, loops, bent glass rods, spreaders, pipettes, laminar air flow chambers, Bunsen burners, spirit lamps, lancets, sterile toothpicks
There are many apparatuses that are using in the micro-para laboratory.

As a basic biological science microorganism are good tools used in research in study of life process. As an applied science deals with many important practical problem in medicine, agriculture and industry.
yes, as in "I have a degree in microbiology"
They study the biology of tiny organisms, such as protists bacteria and other single celled organism's Micro = small, biologist = someone who studies biology. 'Scientists who study the structure and the function of cells'
The study of Microorganisms is called microbiology.
Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms. It is a branch of biology.

AS FAR AS I KNOW IN U.S MICROBIOLOGY IS A SUPERSPECIALIZATION THAT CAN BE DONE AFTER POSTGRADUATION IN PATHOLOGY AND AS SUCH YOUR DEGREE AS A MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGIST IS NOT RECOGNIZED UNLESS YOU HAVE GONE THROUGH USMLE ROUTE, DONE POSTGRADUATE RESIDENCY IN PATHOLOGY AND THEN A FURTHER FELLOWSHIP IN MICROBIOLOGY. BUT ANSWER OF YOUR BASIC QUESTION ABOUT JOB IS THAT YOU CAN GET ANY JOB RELATED TO MICROBIOLOGY IN U.S EXCEPT FOR A MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGIST JOB.
