It is a popular BELIEF that a meteorite killed the dinosaurs. There is no hard evidence to support it, and as such, your guess is as good as anyone elses.
There are several craters on the planet large enough to support the theory, but the evidence is considerably lacking past that.
Another popular theory is that they simply died out through the process of self extinction. They consumed all available resources, died out slowly, and eventually went extinct.
