The Great Hanshin Earthquake which is also known as the 1995 Kobe, Japan earthquake is one of Japan's most devastating earthquakes . It was originally a 7.2 earthquake but was later don graded to a 6.8 magnitude earthquake. More than 26,000 people were injured and 5,500 people died and 100,100 buildings were destroyed. It lasted for exactly 20 seconds.
The earthquake was put in the Guinness Book of World Records, as the "costliest natural disaster to befall any one country"
