Well it was used during the end of series 6 of tv sitcom only fools and horses, when Rodney gets married. and Del thinks about his past and future. I can't think of any film it's been in though
It was written about the problems he faced because of his mum leaving him when he was 3 years old.
Probably only Mick Hucknall knows what the lyrics truly mean though.
