Armies back then were principally fed with wheat, the soldiers would have likely ate plain whole wheat bread loaves. They would supplement this with whatever they could forage, wild animals, fruits, vegetables etc.

A lot of the food Alexander and his army ate was fish. Most of the support and supplies twords the beginning of his campaign came from his navy. They were required to transport a great deal of the food, especially fish. When Alexander did not have access to his navy, he had each of this troops bring their own food such as bread and nuts. They even carried their own water. At times, they would even steal food from any area they were in, if trade were not possible. Depending on the area, is what kinds of food they had. In Babylon, they had corn and fish. In India, they had cattle and deer. They ate what they could to survive. Even if that meant killing an entire village, stealing, hunting, fishing, plundering other's crops, or begging. Alexander's army ate anything and everything. There are even stories that they were hit by a plague at one point. Thus proving that they would eat bugs and other insects. Even to the point of eating tree bark or any type of eatable plant.
