What food do horses eat?

I think that it really depends on the horse. Like my horse does not like to eat chaff hay but she will eat just regular hay. So what I would do is lay out an assortment of treats and see what one the horse goes after first.

Hay, Oats, Carrots, Grass, Sugar Cubes, Apples, and molasses

Be careful with the sugar cubes 1-2 a month should do!

There aren't really strict requirements for what a horse eats. They can eat many things. BUT NEVER give a horse meat. Some plants found in pastures are poisonous. Depending on where you live, varies what poisonous plants are in your area. Google "poisonous plants in (state or province)" and you should get a list. My advice is to feed your horse hay and grain. Give veggies and fruit as treats. Carrots and apples are my favorite to give my horse, but she eats corn husks too. Hope this helped.

A couple of things horses eat are oats and apples. They are grazing animals but I'm not sure what kinds of grasses they eat.

well horses like eating grass in the field but you can never give them too much though or they will get sick. 70% of what they eat is grass and hay 30% is made up of oats, barley, carrots etc
