You can buy any foods with food stamps, but you cannot buy anything that is hot and already prepared, like some grocery stores sell hot chicken, etc, you cannot buy that with food stamps. Also no alcohol, cigarettes, paper products, etc. Also no fast food. I was on food stamps for over 10 years before I got off them last year.

In some areas, restaurants can be authorized to accept SNAP benefits from qualified homeless, elderly, or disabled people in exchange for low-cost meals.

Households CANNOT use SNAP benefits to buy:Beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes or tobacco;

Any nonfood items, such as:--pet foods;--soaps, paper products; and--household supplies.

Vitamins and medicines.

Food that will be eaten in the store.

Hot foods.

I have found that All packaged foods as well as candy, soda, and cold deli subs can be bought with SNAP benefits.
