This is an old mountain remedy. Get a brown paper bag and soak it in apple cider vinegar (brown vinegar), wring out some of the excess vinegar, then place the wet paper bag on the afflicted area. Keep the wet paper bag on the area for the remainder of the evening, occasionally rewetting as the bag starts to dry. The sooner you treat the injury the better. It also works great on swelling and soreness. Good for sprains and playground altercations.

∙ 10y agoDO NOT MASSAGE A BRUISE! You can re-injure the vessels that caused the bruise in the first place and make it worse. If it is more than 24 hours since the fall, ice is pointless, and heat doesn't do much other than for comfort. Actually, all you can safely do is wait for it to fade on it's own. Cover it up.
