The wise men gave Jesus gold, frankincense and myrrh (pronounced murr). We do not know how many wise men there were. The three presents brought foreshadowed the future for Jesus. Goldrepresented that Jesus would be a king, frankincense, an aromatic gum from trees, used in worship among other uses, and myrrh, an aromatic resin which would later be used to anoint Jesus' body after the crucifixion.

Biblically, we don't know their names or if it was a "troop" of wise men...

In fact The Bible doesn't mention three wise men; it only mentions the three gifts (gold, frankincense and myrrh) as described in Matthew 2:11.

In the first century A.D. there was very few ways to travel around. By foot, horse, camel or boat. Since we know the Magi were kings and were wealthy, they probably used horses and camels.
