-100 % silicon works very well on glass.
Super Glue, silicone and epoxies
The carrier vapourises in air, then the product is joined.
I believe what makes a glue strong or weak is the ingredients it's made of. However, I also know that there are glues for almost every purpose and most will be very good at the exact purpose they are made for, but may appear weak when used in unsuitable conditions. I work at repairing many things and consequently I carry a box of over 30 different glues in my work truck and even more at home.I have rigid fast setting glues, pliable glues, silicon adhesives, glues that will work in extreme heat, glues that adhere underwater and glues that melt substances together. Each has a purpose but few are good for everything. The trick is using the right glue for the material you are gluing.
The best adhesive or bonding agent for glass is known as an epoxy. Basic glues are fine for most porous materials but an epoxy is designed to be used for almost any material or surface. You can buy it premixed or you can mix it yourself. Acid-based silicone does a good job with glass aquariums.

Because most glues start drying on exposure to air. That's how they work as glues. Prevent it by keeping the container closed.
Glues come in many different colours.
My two favorite glues are Shoe Goop and Gloozit. They are both silicone type glues .
Thick glues are called 'gel' glues.
Generally, 2-Part Epoxy would be the glue of choice for metal to plastic.
It will work on some. On glues that are harder to remove, try 'Whitlam's Glue Wash' hand cleaner.
Almost all glues are dangerous for the eyes. Particularly so are the cyano-acrylites, (krazy and super glues )
Some glues, such as PVA glues in particular, can absorb water.
