George Beverly Shea - now age 104 - composed the music in 1932. Rhea F. Miller wrote the lyrics. When Shea signed with RCA records, the company chose to spotlight their new singer with his recording of "I'd Rather Have Jesus." He has sung the song live for millions of people and many more millions have heard his recordings of ot.
