It depends on where you live, it's different in different parts of the country. Most often, elementary schools have kindergarten through 5th grade. But there are also places where it goes up to 6th grade, and a few places where it only goes up to 4th grade. I have heard of some other variations as well, such has having a K-3 elementary school and then an "upper elementary" or "intermediate" school for grades 4-5 or 4-6.
K-6 or PreK-5 This will vary in different locations!
That would be kindergarten. Sometimes elementary schools offer pre-school programs, but that isn't counted as an actual grade.
Most middle school students start from 7th Grade & end in 8th Grade.
traditionally elementary school is K-5 sometimes it does extend to 6 or split into two schools K-3 and 4-5(or 6)
usually kindergarten (5 years old) to 6th grade (11 years old)
kindergarten through 5th grade
grades 1 to 5
Most places have elementary school, middle school/junior high school, and high school. Elementary is usually kindergarten and grades 1-5 or 6, middle school is grades 6-8 or just 7 and 8 (in which case it may be called junior high instead) and high school is grades 9-12. So then after 12th grade, you graduate and then you can go on to university.
What grades are in middle school depends upon the school district. It is the 2 or 3 grades between elementary school and high school. It includes 7th & 8th grades, but might also have either the 6th or 9th grades. The school district where I grew up had junior high schools with 7th, 8th and 9th grades. They still do, but have changed to calling them "middle school". Where my children grew up, middle school was, and still is, 7th and 8th grades.
Yes. The British system consists of primary school, secondary school, college and university. The American system consists of elementary school, middle school, high school and college or university. Additionally, the British (or at least English) system has A Levels and/or GCSEs while the US has APs and IBs. In Britain, school years are 'forms', but in the US they are 'grades'. A 'class' in the US is a 'module' in Britain. Also, the US system grades in 'points' while the British system uses 'marks'.
