I think it is a Smith & Wesson Model 15, now the Model 67 combat masterpiece. It is a .38 special, with the 67 being a .38 special +P, which is a shade less powerful than a .357 Magnum. I use one as a home defence weapon. A beauty of a revolver.
Yes, you are so right. It is definitely the Smith & Wesson .38 Special. I just saw it tonight accidentally in the gun shop. The owner just got it in (used trade in) and was sitting on the counter. I did a double take when I saw it sitting there, because I knew instantly that it was the gun they used in "The Road". Same barrel length, color and all. Exact same gun. I just can't remember the actual model # though off hand. I looked at it, but my memory is going south these days. Think I might even buy it, who knows? What a great movie by the way! Depressing, but great.
