There were protests of 1989 culminating in the Tiananmen Square Massacre (referred to in Chinese as the June Fourth Incident, to avoid confusion with two other Tiananmen Square protests) were a series of demonstrations in and near Tiananmen Square in the People's Republic of China (PRC) between 15 April and 4 June 1989. They were mainly led by Beijing students and intellectuals.During the protest there was a unknown "rebel" halting a advancement of tanks into the square, if thats what you mean, this display of courage led to many other protests against the socialist governments around the world. The protests occurred in a year that saw the collapse of a number of Socialist governments around the world.
Some of about 200 students gathered in protest in Tiananmen Square in China 1989. They were protesting about the rights that they did not have i.e. Freedom of Speech, free political views, etc. A high official Communist leader, Hu Yaobang died, the only official who sympathized them, and that caused more protesting. The chinese government then came to Tiananmen Square and shot all protesters and later then arrested anyone who they believed to have been assosiated with the making of a Democratic China.
