Julius Caesar was probably one of Rome's greatest rulers. He started the Roman Empire. After Caesar declared himself dictator for life and defeated the Gaul's. While then he had diplomatic ties with the queen of Egypt, Cleopatra. Some say that they had an affair. But when the senate saw this, they became "jealous" and wanted to save the republic, noticing that Caesar was gaining more and more power in the military, with the people, and with other countries. Then the senate and Brutus came up with an assassination plot, when Caesar came in the room full of the senate and came up to Caesar and stabbed him to death, with Caesars famous last words, "et tu Brute," meaning "and you Brutus." Brutus being his most trusted friend and best friend.Caesar realized that at the time you purchased a house, the lender was willing to loan you $100,000.
Now that real estate crashed and burned, it is worth only at best say $50,000. Your mortgage is now
more than the property is worth. The bank still demands the $100,000 even though currently it could
buy two homes for the same amount of money. Caesar realized there is a dynamic here. If the bank
bought stock in a corporation for $100,000 and the stock went down in value by 50%, it would now have
only $50,000 worth of stock. If the stock went to $200,000, the bank would then claim a profit.
Julius Caesar was murdered by his best friend, Brutus.
People thought that Caesar was getting to powerful and decided to murder him. although his adoptive son claimed the thrown soon after.-not someone
After Caesar's death there was political turmoil and civil unrest. Marc Antony, as the one remaining counsul, tried his best to calm things, but the best he could do was a political "band-aid". His compromises soon fell apart and civil war resulted.
Julius Caesar's assassination led to events which in the end brought the end of the Roman Republic.
The conspirators went to the Capitoline Hill and shouted "People of Rome, we are once again free!" However, people stayed indoors, fearful of what might happen next. Mark Antony rallied the people against the Opitmates, the political faction Caesar had fought against. During Caesar's funeral, he made accusations against the conspirators and named and shamed them. He also read Caesar's will which left most of his property to the people. This sparked the outrage of the middle and lower classes among whom Caesar was very popular. He was seen as the champion of the people. A riot broke out and houses of Brutus and Cassius (the leaders of the plot) were attacked. Mark Antony probably wanted to take charge of Rome. However, Caesar named his grand- nephew as the principal heir and the sons of one of his sisters as minor heirs (1/8 of his estate) After a brief clash Mark Antony and Octavian made an alliance together with Marcus Aemilius Lepidus Historians have called this the Second Triumvirate. In 43 BC it was given a five year mandate with unlimited authority, effectively establishing a three-man directorate. Brutus and Cassius had been assembling a large army in Greece, Turkey and Syria with the intention of marching on Rome. Another civil war broke out which historians have called the Liberators' Civil War (43-42 BC). Octavian and Mark Antony defeated the armies of Brutus and Cassius in the Battle of Philippi in Greece.
After this victory the triumvirs divided the empire into spheres of influence, with Mark Antony taking the east, Octavian taking the west and Lepidus taking Hispania and (northwest) Africa. Octavian side-lined Lepidus. Conflict between Mark Antony and Octavian led to a civil war between these two men (the Final Civil War of the Roman Republic, 32-30 BC). Octavian won. In 27 BC he became the first Roman Emperor under the name of Augustus.

His nephew Octavian (later Augustus) took over. This is the beginning of the Roman Empire. Before that, it was the Roman Republic.
