∙ 12y agoWe find out in the beginning of Season 5 that she is the daughter of Le Grenouille, an international arms dealer the Director Jenny Shepard has been pursuing for years. She assigns Tony to go undercover as a college professor so that he can have the doctor fall in love with him, and then he will be close to Le Grenouille.
However, we don't know this until the begininning of Season 5. In the particular episode when Tony and Le Grenouille are alone, he lets Tony know that he has found out that he is actually an undercover NCIS agent. After this, Tony goes to his doctor girlfriend and tells her who he really is and that he's after her father, and she leaves him. This hurts Tony, because he had also fallen in love with the doctor.
When Le Grenouille's body is found later in the season, the doctor girlfriend tries to blame the murder on Tony out of bitterness, and we see her tell him that she wishes they had never met. But at the end of the season you can infer that Le Grenouille was actually killed by Jenny Shepard because the killing bullet had the same defect that we glimpse in a clip of Jenny's.
