I don't really have the answer but in the bonus features on the recently released

DVD, William Friedkin had nothing but praise for him and asked the same question.

Since the other survivors, Laurence Luckinbill and Peter White are prominently featured in these features I am sure the producers must have tried to find him.

According to IMDB, Greene also appeared in director Elaine May's 1976 film "Mikey and Nicky." He seems to have dropped out of sight ever since that film.

According to the New York Daily News, (1996) Reuben Greene, who played Bernard, was born and reared in Philadelphia, got a job on the CBS soap "Where the Heart Is." , worked in regional theater and numerous TV commercials and of 1996 was living in Queens New York. At that time, in an interview, he said he thought "The Boys in the Band" was "very daring" for its time, but "he still has reservations" about the original production. "I think there was too much emphasis on the self-destructiveness of some of the characters," he says over the phone from his home in Queens. "To me, the play is more about the cry for truth and inclusion. The other day I told Mart that I'm still waiting to see the definitive production of this play."
