Theodore Ficklin Elementary School in Alexandria, Virginia, was torn down, I believe in the 1970s. The property was sold to a builder and he built very expensive and very large townhomes on that piece of land. The only thing that remains are our memories and a few of us keep contact through Classmates. I thought that school was special with its auditorium, inside gym, art room, music room, etc. The faculty and staff during the 1950s was terrific. The principal was Mollie Whitlock. Some of the teachers were: Moore, Harris, Hatch, McIver, and Gibbs. Remember the stamps to buy Series E having Bonds each week? And the air raid drills in the long halls leading to the gym and cafeteria. Sit on the floor and cover your head with your arms, against the atomic bomb! God love our innocence. I remember Leith and Craig Ross, Billy Cole, Sandy Hawkins, Roberta Rodriguez, Jane Orick, Mary Petty, Wanda Shifflet, Ann Pollard, Siros Siros, Nelia Illemsky, Chick Cronin, Alfred Cornfield, and Billy Rose,
