Why would you stop paying child support? If you did this your child(ren) would suffer.

You may not be happy with paying money to your ex wife, your break up may have been painful and you may feel that the terms of the split up were unfair to you. However, whatever you feel now, you did bring a new life into the world and society reasonably expects you to take your share of responsibility in ensuring that this life reaches adulthood as best as you are able. Please do not treat your child(ren) as pawns in any battle with your wife. If you feel that the terms of the separation /divorce are now unfair because circumstances have changed, that is OK but please go back through the court to get them adjusted.

i do believe, if under the court of law, you are required to pay child support, that does not change if your ex moves and you do not, i do believe YOU can still be tried. -axeowar

If he stops paying child support you have to file a motion for contempt at the court that issued the order. Courts have many ways to collect child support arrears. They can attach his pay and require his employer to pay you directly. Courts can arrange to confiscate tax refunds, suspend a driver's license, and eventually place a deadbeat father in jail for refusing to pay. However, you must follow the rules and pursue the matter in court if you want help in collecting.
