A presidential candidate would never make it past the primaries and he (or she) certainly wouldn't be elected because one of the requirements of running for president is to be a Native-born American. The opposing political party would have already publisized the candidate's birth place.
For a candidate to qualify to be President of the USA, he/she MUST be a "natural-born" citizen of the USA. (This includes deliveries performed via Caesarean Section, a point of confusion surrounding the definition of "natural born.") Candidates for the office are vetted well in advance of the primary elections to insure that they satisfy the qualifications of age and citizenship for the office of POTUS.
