Little or none. In some cases, the body will create a 'new' gall bladder in the duct work. It is recommended that individuals reduce their fat intake, but even if they don't, there are normally no drawbacks.

My wife had her's removed and there have been no affects.

I've had my gall bladder out and my doctor told me to stay away from fats, but forgot to tell me good fats (such as Olive Oil) should be introduced into your daily diet. I had a rough time because my gall bladder burst thanks to the incompetence of 5 doctors and 2 ER visits. I didn't have the basic symptoms of pain from under the right side of the breast to under the right shoulder blade and only had excrutiating pain under my shoulder blade. When I looked it up on the web there are 5% of people with this symptom so all those doctors messed up for the 11 weeks of hell I went through.

Normally having the gall bladder removed causes few problems, but I would advice you to be wary of spicy foods and hard to digest foods. Since there is no longer a gall bladder the acid duct no longer just squirts out the acid as one needs it to digest food, but it pours directly into the stomach. I'm fine now and there are only a very few things I can't eat.

The gallbladder stores and concentrates the bile produced by the liver. The bile is then released through the cystic duct, and emptied into the common bile duct which connects to the duodenum at the ampulla of Vater. The role of bile is to emulsify fat so it can be digested in the small intestine even though it is mainly an aqueous environment.

When the gallbladder is removed, the duct from the liver is attached directly to the small intestine, afterwards, a steady stream of less concentrated bile is sent directly to the small intestine. The gallbladder should simply be seen as a reservoir which optimized fat emulsification, without it, the system is not as efficient but works well enough to return to a normal life.

Without a gallbladder, you can still live in a normal way of life because the bile still flows from the liver to small intestine that helps in the digestion process.

you die. simple!

No, you don't die. The gallbladder stores bile, a fluid produced by the liver. Bile is needed to break down and absorb fat. The gallbladder release the bile into the intestine.

When the gallbladder is removed, bile can't be stored, and drains continuously into the intestine. This can affect the digestion of fat. Whether this is a problem or not varies from person to person and how much fat they consume. Eating large amounts of fat can cause gas, bloating and diarrhea. Over time, the body often adjusts and becomes better at digesting fatty foods.

Typically, it doesn't affect your daily life at all. In some cases, since your body will have a slightly harder time digesting fats, a high-fat diet will cause you to develop diarrhea more often, but that's about it.

You usually function quite well. The body is okay without a gallbladder. Your body might have a slightly harder time breaking down fats, but it is usually not something that will impact you life to a large degree.
