If you miss a thyroxine med medication you can get muscle serious muscle cramps and severe coldness to the bone and feel like your entire body seizes, no energy, add to this palpitations, heart problems particularly if you have had a heart attack and then to miss dose from this missed medication. Quackery decides to kill the gland in my case to me synonamus to cutting ones legs off because you have a broken toe. Instead of treating or 'healing' the issue for me which was hyperventilation. This dark age treatment and must stop and I hope all the quacks take notice here. My life has been severely further traumatised adding to serious health conditions and where are the quacks now all gone to cover or lie. Oh we can treat the hormone replacement,Diabetes, cholesterol, weight, heart attack, so called mental issues such as anxiety, alledged panic attacks. But you do have this mental disorder and so it goes on and on. Then the heart attack well we can give you up to 6 further medications and give you an ulcer as well. The heart quackers think this is exceptable. Frankly I don't and never would have taken the wonder medication RAI 131. Now i hear they don't do this? Ever seen the people that got the Chenyoble dose. Really well perhaps this is why they have now decided to change this little wonder ideal treatment. People have lost quality of life and is dreadful if one has this illness as a natural but to subject people to this as a young person frankly is akin to murder of the person and their life unnecessarily. And just to leave them with a half a soul to carry them to the years earlier than needed. I'd rather take my chances and if I was to die so be it but this half life is worse,.much worse in to many ways.
Hyperthyroidism
======================
It is rather Hypothyroidism
Hyper = high
Hypo = low (Low level of T3 and T4)
See related links, please.
check for diabetes
T4 and T3 are both thyroid hormones.
Hypothyroidism where the thyroid is producing low levels of T3 and T4 in the body.
Insulin (pg. 87 nutrition and diet therapy)
PTU reduces the amount of T3 thyroid hormone in the blood by reducing its secretion from the thyroid and by decreasing the peripheral conversion of T4 to T3.
The spine is composed of 24 different bones called vertebrae, 7 in your neck, 12 in your upper to mid back, and 5 in your low back. The upper to mid back vertebrae are called thoracic vertebrae, and they are referred to as T1-T12 from top to bottom. T3 & T4 are then the 3rd and 4th thoracic vertebrae from the top. They are located right between your shoulder blades (called scapulae)!
Hyperthyroidism would be a condition in which T3 and T4 are at increased levels.
The release of T3 and T4 from the thyroid resulting from changes in TSH level is an example of a Negative feedback system.
Hi, TSH is the hormone that stimulates the thyroid to release more T3/ T4 hormones (one is converted to the other). If T3 and T4 hormones get low, more TSH will be produced and the thyroid will release more T3/T4. So TSH can be high in response to a short-term dip in T3/T4 levels which can be caused by medicine or as the body's response to a virus or infection. www.about.com has some very good information about thyroid issues.
Most of the generated T4 is converted to T3 in the liver.
T4 and T3 are both thyroid hormones.
TSH is commonly accepted today as the first-line diagnostic test for overall thyroid function. In general, a normal TSH level (0.3-4.5) indicates normal thyroid function. If the TSH is high or low, then T4 and T3 (and their "free" forms, FT4 and FT3) are evaluated to narrow the diagnosis.
i think it is turbonetics t3 was the older one t4 is newer
Thyroid function - Hypothyroidism. A low level of thyroxine and high level of TSH indicate an underactive thyroid.
yes
Between T3 and T4, T3 is the bioavailable form of the hormone which the body is able to actively utilize to control metabolism. T4 is only storage hormone, making it a less reliable predictor of current metabolic functions since it must first be converted. Some patients are unable to convert T4 to T3 effectively. Totals are less reliable than Frees however, so between the two hormones, the most reliable hormone to test is Free T3, not Total T3. That said, diagnosing thyroid dysfunction requires multiple tests for appropriate diagnosis, since the overall impression is most important in the diagnostic process, not a single hormone.
T3 is triiodothyronine, and is the active form of the hormone secreted by the thyroid. T4 (thyroxine) is another form of thyroid hormone which must be converted to T3 by your body via the deiodinase enzyme. Although T3 is active, your body produces much more T4. The best way to monitor low thyroid function is by looking at TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). TSH will be high if the thyroid is not producing enough T3/T4. For the majority of hypothyroid cases, only TSH needs to be monitored. For hyperthyroidism and some hard to treat hypothyroid cases, the doctor will test T3 and T4.
TSH is the hormone produced by the pituitary gland that tells the thyroid to produce the thyroid hormones T4 and T3.
