Not all routers have such button. But most of routers have such function in settings. WPS allows you to configure your wireless devices without changing any kind of settings. You just enable it and everything else is done automatically.

If your WPS is enabled you should disable as soon as possible due to vulnerability found recently which allows to hack on to your router in very short time even if you have WPA security enabled.

WPS stands for Wi-Fi Procected Setup, and it has a lot of power over your router. However, with great powers comes great responsibilities. So you shouldn't press that button by default. Only use this button if you really know what you are doing.

The WPS button allows all devices to connect in a simplified way to the WiFi network, without requiring the use of a password to access the network. That is, much more practical for public events, but terrible for home use.

The WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button can be in any of several positions on a router. It can be in the front near the indicator lights, on top, or on the back near the router ports. It depends on the model of the router. The WPS button may not always be labeled. Since most common routers have no other buttons on them besides a power button or switch, reset button, and WPS button, it should not be hard to find. The reset button is normally recessed into the case where a pin is needed to activate it. That leaves just the power switch (or button) and the WPS button. It is possible that your router has no WPS button. Check the specifications on the box, manual, or online.

In any case the smart thing to do is to disable WPS as soon as possible due to vulnerabilities found which allows hackers to access the router and your network in a very short time even if you have WPA or WPA2 security enabled.

What does WPS means which is printed on ptcl router model KW5815?

WPS or WiFi Protected Setup is used to connect to your wireless AP. It has 2 methods one is WPS button and second is WPS pin. 1. WPS Button (usage): When you try to connect an "Wireless Access point" a dialouge box comes up asks for the Password that should be entered in order to connect to the "wireless AP". At this stage you can either enter the password or you can use WPS button. while the password dialouge box is open. in windows 7 "Connect to a Network" dialouge box says "You can also connect by pushing the button on the router". if you don't want to connect with AP by entering password you can push the "WPS Button" on your "PTCL" device. and there you go, you are connected to your WiFi.. :) 2. WPS PIN (usage): NOTE: make sure your PIN is active in the settings of your PTCL device!

Where is the wps button dsi?

The WPS button is something on your router, not the DSi itself. It is telling you to press that button (if it has one, not all do) and the DSi will await a signal it will send.

When does the WPS button on a wireless router ever get pushed?

WPS stands for Wifi Protected Setup. It is a simple way for non-technical folks to set up a wireless router within their location. The button is pressed essentially to let the router know that some device will soon be requesting to connect to it by WPS. The way this occurs is by first pressing the button on the router and then going to the device in question and have it initiate the connection to said router. Instead of asking for a WEP or WPA/WPA2 keycode, it will instead ask for the WPS key. This key is often found on a sticker on the router as a series of numbers (though it can be configured to a different value through the web interface if the router owner wishes to do so). Once the device and router speak with each other by WPS, the router lets the station know what parameters (such as the WEP or WPA/WPA2 key) are appropriate for the network in question and all is ready to go.I have never used WPS when setting up client networks and generally turn it off since typing in the WPS code is no different than typing in the WEP or WPA/WPA2 keycode. As such, I see little need for the function.

Why won't my wifi connect to my iPod Touch?

You may have high router security or an incompatible router. Some routers wont even let other devices see the network. So go to your router security and allow your device. Then on the iPod, go to settings hit wifi and where it says choose a network see of your network shows up and enter your password. If it doesn't show up, manually type in your ssid and security protocol then type you username and/or password and see if it connects. You can also try to set up the device through your router utility and a wifi protected setup (WPS) button on your router.
