It wouldn't kill you, but it will be hard on your liver. I'd say all it would do is probably just feel like you took 800mg because after a point too much ibuprofin doesn't really do anything but hurt your liver. If 800mg isn't working for you, try something like Tylenol or talk to your doctor because you really shouldn't be taking too many OTC, or any painkillers for that matter. If you wanted to know if you'll be able to get high off of ibuprofin, the answer is no, that's why it's available at the store, the prescription strength is exactly the same as taking 3 over the counter ones, it's just more convenient.

ibuprofen is not usually recommended in doses above 800mg at a time, up to 4x daily. This is because of its blood-thinning properties, and the fact that it can cause stomach upset due to acid production.

If you choose to take 1600mg of ibuprofen at one time, be sure to drink a full glass of water - 16oz might be better - and do not take another dose for at least 6 hours. This is especially important if you are taking other medications that are metabolized in the liver.

Consult your doctor to find alternatives if you think that ibuprofen is not working well for you. Another option may be Anaprox (naproxen sodium, also known as Aleve), which requires a smaller dose, and may be more effective for Arthritis and joint pain.

Depending on how many mg your body can handle, I can potentially hurt your liver. I usually start out with two and if it doesn't help within a couple of hours I'll usually take two more. If it is for a mi-grain I would recommend that you take Excedrin or something.

Ibuprofin is thought to counteract the anti-clotting effect of aspirin. Studies have found that heart patients taking daily low dosage aspirin, but also taking ibuprofin for chronic pain, do not get the benefits of the aspirin regime. a Single dosage of no more than 2000mg is generally safe, however this depends on body weight, if you weigh 100 lbs don't have 2000mg.

It won't kill you. I recommend you don't. One 800 is twice as much as most people take for a headache
