Romeo sneaks over the fence to get into Juliet's backyard. She is standing at her window in her nightie, wishing out loud that Romeo wasn't a Montague so she could be with him. Romeo takes this as a cue and reveals himself. They acknowledge their love for each other and Juliet says that if he is really serious about her and wants to marry her, he should send word the next day at nine o'clock by means of a messenger which she will send. (This is the nurse but she does not say so).
