Can your son stay home alone with his mothers boyfriend?

If the boyfriend is suitable for being around kids and the mother approves, yes. When the child is with the custodial parent he/she decides what is best for the child in his/her home.

Is there a law mandating the non cust parent to take the child to his activities on their visitation time?

What kind of question is that? Are you seriously a non custodial parent that even thinks that is a question. You don't want to take your kids to their activities? Its called being an involved parent. The law doesnt need to be addressed, you need to step up to the plate and be a parent.

Can a hospital come after a non-custodial parent for expenses not covered by insurance if the custodial parent admitted the child to the hospital without consulting the non-custodial parent?

You share the parenthood of the child and so you also share expenses. It is not in any way practical for you to second guess treatments you will and will not pay for. The custodial parent has the decision making power, and even if you don't share their vision, it is best for the child not to get caught in the middle of a fight about expenses. Alternatively, you could put your child on your insurance, so there is a secondary source for payment. Kids are just expensive any way you go about it. For the future, you may cultivate a reasonable talking relationship with the other parent, who may consult you if they know they are not going to be caught in a confrontation in a time of emergency. If the hospital comes to you for the payment and you have already paid your required share, you may be forced to sue your ex to recover the money.

Can you prevent the non-custodial parent keeping the kids for 6 weeks during the summer?

You can prevent the other parent from see the kids.First of all How old are they? If they are 12 or close, they probably can decide through mediation if they want to see the non-custodial parent. You have to take him to court and change the current orders. You will be given a mediation date first. If you are low-income, the court will pay for this, or parcial. I would do this before summer. Bring proof if you have it on the last 5 years. Does he pick them up every other weekend? Is he a fit parent? You can e-mail me personally, I will answer any questios you have. Toni

Joint custody who claims the child on their taxes?

Sorry for the last idiot, who obviously has issues with her ex*Generally, your divorce decree will spell out who can claim the kids on their tax *returns. If you have 50/50 joint custody someone will still be the custodial parent *even though time is shared between both house holds. Generally, you take turns *claiming your kids. If you have more than one, you can alternate that way *someone always has the ability to take the child tax credit. No - the part about the custodial parent is not true. My decree says nothing about custodial parents - they don't exist in Minnesota. With a 50/50 custody arrangement, the law says the child who was with the parent the most gets the deduction. That's federal law - doesn't say anything about custodial parent. That of course is ridiculous, and just leads to problems. Because I make more money, I work it out with my ex, where I claim him every year, and give her a check for 1/2 of her difference (her claim with minus her claim without).

Can a custodial parent deny the non custodial parent seeing the children outside of the non custodial parent's court appointed times For example Picking up kids to go to park or eat for 2 hours?

Legally the custodial parent can deny visitation outside the court ordered terms. But if custodial issues come before the court again the incident might not look favorable for the custodial parent. To refuse an activity such as noted in the question would appear to be mean spirited unless the request for visitation interferred with the child's/children's school, medical care, extracurricular activity or something similar.

Is it good if you hate or despise your ex-husband though he is the non-custodial parent of your children?

If hating him helps you get over the marriage then it's a good way to go at it, but if your husband is the non-custodial parent it is only good if your hate does not affect what your kids are thinking about their father.

Can a custodial parent refuse to let the kids go with non custodial parent if she doesnt like the new wife?

Once a relationship breaks down, neither parent has the right to decide whom the other person dates, or marries. If there is a court order in place, then it's best to follow it regardless of how you feel about the step-parent or you will be found in contempt.

Can a non-custodial parent leave the county?

It's legal for him to leave the state unless he has the kids with him and custodial parent do not consent for them to leave the state. He can be charged with kidnapping. If the non-custodial parent moves out of state, he or she must continue to pay child support. Also, visitation rights may be affected if the non-custodial parent lives far from the custodial parent.
