What happens to the product of photosynthesis?

The product of photosynthesis is reduced carbon (i.e oxidised carbon in the form of carbon dioxide is taken and converted to carbohydrates).

The immediate product of photosynthesis is glucose (a six carbon sugar molecule). Glucose is utilised by the plant cells to provide energy for driving important metabolic processes (such a fat and protein synthesis).

Other pathways operating in the plant cells also use glucose and make other sugar molecules (such as fructose, galactose etc) or turn it into storage products (such a starch) or make other derivatives which are present in barks (lignin, cellulose, xylan) and other areas.
