What happens to their credit card debt when a single person dies?

Answer

If the person didn't leave a will or heirs in that will, then all their debts are written off. First, if the deceased has a home, property, condo, cars, etc., they will sell it off and the government will probate and pay off the creditors and if anything is left it goes into the government coffers. That's why it's so important to have a Will drawn up (especially if you have children.)
