Usually when they get found by the police or returned home, you can press "Ungovernable" or run-away charges on them. The first time this happens they'll be taken to a youth shelter for like 3 days to a week and you'll go in front of the judge and the child + parents will discuss whats going on, and if the parents want the kid home the judge will order the release. Otherwise, a 3-day evaluation for placement will be ordered for a group home, or in some cases rehab. In that case the teen will be kept in the shelter anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months awaiting placement, for a time period of 6 months up until their 21st birthday depending on the seriousness of what happened and the juvenile record of the person in question.

Who pays for foster child care?

In most cases, the government pays for foster child care through funding provided by state, federal, or local agencies. The specific agency responsible for funding depends on the jurisdiction and policies in place. Additionally, some foster parents may receive financial support and benefits to help cover the costs of caring for a foster child.

What is the punishment for running away in Missouri?

Punishment for runaway behavior, if applicable, varies from state to state, and many variables are considered, including the reason the child ran away (most of the time it's because of abuse, and the state may be reluctant to return the child to his home if that's the case), the child's age, with whom, and whether the child wants to return home. The sanction ranges from placement in foster care to juvenile detention, depending on whether the child is dependent (needs foster care due to abuse and/or neglect), or delinquent (runs away without just reason and has a history of doing so).

Do children in foster care receive child support from parents?

The foster parents receive a set sum for each child from the state and the parents pay the state. Since it would be a very different sum for each child based on what parents can pay, the sum is set for each child and every state have this system. The foster parents should not have to use their money. if that was the case we would have very few foster families because they would not afford it.

If my child is placed in foster care and im currently pregnant will the state take my newborn because i already have a child in state care?

Generally, the state will only remove the child if the child is being neglected or abused. The fact that a child has been removed in the past is, usually, not enough reason to remove a second child. An additional circumstance must take place.

How is adoption and foster care the same?

They aren't the same. Adoption is becoming the legal parent and foster care means the state is the childs guardian. The state makes all important decisions regarding the child and the foster parents have no rights, the state can just come in and move the child to another foster home for no reason. Adopted children are yours forever.
