Everyone who was able to read it reaped the benefits of Muslim astronomers' research.
Why not? Mathematicians have done the nightclub comedy circuit, so why couldn't astronomers be in a spectacle? Oh, you mean can astronomers WEAR spectacles? Of course. People rarely sit at their telescopes with their eyes pressed to the eyepiece anymore. It's all done with computers, and CCD devices that are far more sensitive than the human eye, and which record everything. There's more need for computer programmers than actual astronomers in observatories these days.

Very little astronomy is still done by physically looking through telescopes, so astronomers can basically work any hours they want. The really large telescopes are quite expensive and tend to be shared (and located in remote, desolate places). Most astronomers rely on dedicated on-site staff at the scope who collect images or data for the astronomers to analyze later.
