Natural Way
Put warm olive oil in your ear and place a cotton bud over it or you could warm a hot water bottle and a wheat bag, that should ease the pain.
Another way is crush a bulb of garlic, mix it in with olive oil, warm it up to room temperature get a dropper (You might want to get someone else to do this), apply 2-3 drops and plug it in with a cotton bud or ear plug. Keep it in for about 10 minutes. Apply 3-4 times a day.
Other Way
If the pain gets severe, go to a doctor and you will probably get antibiotics (Like eardrops) which work well or you can buy some Advil (That works, I've tried.) And see what happens in a couple of days.

Since sodium chloride is salt, I can't imagine what it would do for an earache, since in most cases an earache is caused by a bacterial infection. I could see using salt water to flush out your ear canal, but since the infection would likely be behind the eardrum, it could hardly do much good for an earache even if salt could kill bacteria.
I have been told that a drop of olive oil is good for an ear ache, it will also help remove ear wax.
