My favorite is the Hyatt in Bethesda. It's located outside of D.C. in Bethesda, but the metro station is directly in front of the hotel. Nice atmosphere and convenient. About a ten minute metro ride to the Smithsonian museums and zoo.
The Carlyle Suites Hotel is a good buy at $146 - $384 a night, but if you're looking for something cheaper you could try the Channel Inn Hotel at $95 - $192. It has a great location with some compromise on the quality.
