There's no "legal" age for how old you have to be to have a baby. Its more of what age society as a whole "approve of" for the 'right' age. Most people would say that you should wait until you are atleast in your 20's before having a child. There is no benefit for the mother to have a child at 16 years old, and you are only hurting the child in the long run by having a child at such a young age.

This depends on the country or state you live in.

Some states like Texas has got a Romeo and Juliet part intertwined in the law.

The key issue is the age difference.

At Age 14, the 36 month age difference apply in Texas.

The Romeo and Juliet part does not legalize sex between minors. it only protect minors from prosecution, making this very difficult if both parts actually are together in a relationship or both "consenting" to have sex with each other.

Although most states do have "similar" protection of minors, they do not all acknowledge the Texas Affirmative Defence as in the Romeo and Juliet part.

Many states have different age difference limitations like 24 months for age 14 but 36 months from age 15.

If there are more than 24 months of age between you, then this is actually punishable in parts of the USA. This because the 24 months age difference in many states apply at age 14.

It is only when you have reached age of consent that you are legally free to choose whom to have sex with regardless of their age (as in older)
