Fetal alcohol syndrome refers to mental, growth and physical problems that can occur when a mother drinks alcohol during pregnancy. The drinking need not be what we normally consider as excessive to cause problems in the developing fetus. Alcohol passes very easily through the placenta and seems to be most harmful during the first trimester. The prognosis varies but most babies have some degree of abnormal brain development. Please think before you drink.

∙ 12y agoNobody can drink from a pregnant woman's breast. She does not lactate (make milk) until AFTER she gives birth to the baby. Then, yes, anyone can drink if the woman chooses to make it available.

∙ 12y agoYes, you are perfectly within your right to do so. However understand that while drinking and smoking are allowable, they are only legal while you your-self are doing it non-maliciously. If the authorities believe that you are knowingly damaging the child then they could possibly interact.
Otherwise you could argue that you don't believe drinking has any proven affects upon children.
For my own conscience I'd please beg that when you say drink you mean simply a glass of wine every week or two.
