The first step, as always in any catastrophe, is to remain calm. Panicking in a large, bulky form you aren't used to is a sure way to get hurt, injure another, or cause needless damage to property and will not earn you any sympathy. Remember that you more likely than not will be well-taken of if you are trapped as a horse. horses are useful and expensive animals. You will probably not be left to fend for yourself in the wild, under most circumstances. The next logical step would be to try and get people, particularly people you trust, to realize who you are if they don't know already. The best bet would be trying to get their attention and use a hoof to write a message in dirt or sand, but you'll undoubtedly have to improvise. Maybe there's a picture of you that you can gesture at. Clothing. Do whatever it takes. If anyone's going to be interested in changing you back it will be people who know and care about you. Or if it proves impossible to regain your human form, the company of someone who intimately knows you can be vital to make such a fate bearable.
Failing that, seek out the nearest equine farm or sanctuary you know of. They will most likely take you in, and will probably be gentle if you cooperate. If none come to mind, any civilized population center will have to do. Calmly advance down the side walks until you are confronted with animal control. In the meantime do NOT allow yourself to be spooked. Do not flee or react aggressively to any human who is not actually attempting to hurt you (avoid neighborhoods where you think this might happen). When police and animal control arrive, cooperate fully, even if they are rough with you, which they most likely will not be if you've been behaving well. You will most likely be auctioned off, to whom and where will depend on your breed. From capture on, do not suppose you can influence your future any further. Unless of course you are still able to write, meaning you may yet acquire someone to help you. Simply demonstrating your intelligence enough times may be all you need to do gain the attention of your caretaker. But if you cannot, or if nobody notices, then the best you can do is to be quiet, helpful and obedient, and otherwise please your master or masters. Doing so increases the likelihood you will be treated well at least physically. Coping emotionally will prove a challenge. Just try not to lose hope that someone out there might be coming to rescue you. It isn't impossible. Likewise, take every opportunity you can get to enjoy yourself so long as it isn't at the expense of your value in the eyes of your master.
