we have two types of LAN's namely the token ring and the Ethernet what happen is that each NIC wait for a network remains silent before an information is passed from one workgroup computer to the other. but in case there is a collusion (a process where two information from different meets on the same cable line) in the network information is sent back to their respective place and wait for a silence in network before an information could be linked out again, but when there is still a collusion again the process is repeated again until there is silence and information is passed to the other side of the network.
