GI dog tags, or military dog tags, have been used by the U.S. Army since 1906. They are now worn by members of other branches as well, for purposes of identifying military personnel who are ill, wounded, or have lost their lives in battle. Typically, two military ID dog tags are worn, with identical information. SoldierCity.com is a great resource which lists standard military dog tag information. There are five fields typically engraved or embossed (SoldierCity embosses the text):

LAST NAME

FIRST NAME AND MIDDLE INITIAL

SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER

BLOOD TYPE

RELIGIOUS PREFERENCE

Military ID dog tags have become really trendy in the past few years. I just got a pair of embossed dog tags from SoldierCity for myself and for my boyfriend, who's actually in the Army (so he actually needs dog tags, unlike me!)

It is impossible to unlock all dog tags in the game, however it is ALMOST impossible to have the dog tags in the TAKEN section, mainly because two of the dog tags you can only get for participating in the creation of the game itself. But excluding those two, it would probably take over half a year, you would have to be playing constantly (I would NOT recommend doing that.) expecally for the gun dog tags and the reaching level Colonel Service Star 100 dog tag.
