What denomination? What mint mark? ALL U.S. coins have the word LIBERTY on them, and in 1926 everything higher than a nickel had a picture of Miss Liberty too.

Please check your coin again and post a new question. The Walking Liberty design was used on HALF dollars 1916-1947 but no halves were minted in 1926. Silver dollars carried the Peace design.

All 1926 U.S. cents were made of bronze. It sounds like your coin was altered outside of the mint, which would destroy any collectors' value.

With no mint mark or an "S" near the date, this coin is worth about $6 in average condition. If it has a "D" it's worth about twice as much. FWIW, the coin is called a Standing Liberty quarter. Most days, heads don't walk, LOL!
