International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 (IMT-2000), better known as 3G or 3rd Generation, is a family of standards for mobile telecommunications fulfilling specifications by the International Telecommunication Union,[1] which includes UMTS, and CDMA2000 as well as the non-mobile wireless standards DECT and WiMAX. While the GSM EDGE standard also fulfils the IMT-2000 specification, EDGE phones are typically not branded 3G. Services include wide-area wireless voice telephone, video calls, and wireless data, all in a mobile environment. Compared to 2G and 2.5G services, 3G allows simultaneous use of speech and data services and higher data rates (at least 200 kbit/s peak bit rate to fulfill to IMT-2000 specification). Today's 3G systems can offer practice of up to 14.0 Mbit/s on the downlink and 5.8 Mbit/s on the uplink.
3G refers to the 3rd generation of Mobile technology. 3Gis a common name widely used in the telecommunications industry for a service that allows mobile access to the internet. It allows simultaneous use of speech and data services with higher rate of data transfer upto 14.4 Mbit/s on the downlink and 5.8 Mbit/s on the uplink. There are various standards for 3G wireless technology like GSM, UMTS, CDMA, WiMAX. With the help of USB dongle provided by the companies like 3 Mobile Broadband, T-Mobile and Vodafone it's possible to equip your laptop with this 3G technology.
3g is a cellular data network. In areas where there is good 3g signal you can transfer data (browse the web/email/etc.) a lot faster than when on the EDGE network which is the traditional network that the original Iphone used.
3G Internet refers to a type of Internet access provided by mobile phone companies that subscribers can use to access faster speeds than previous versions, such as 2.5G and 2G Internet. It is typically used from mobile devices such as cell phones though any 3G capable device that can access the network. 3G stands for third generation and is the third generation of wireless network technology. It is a set of standards, or rules, that allow mobile devices to connect wirelessly to the Internet for Surfing the web and making phone calls. The technical name for the 3G network is the International Mobil Telecommunications-2000, or MT-2000 for short.

3G stands for 3rd generation of the GSM technology. GSM is global system for mobile communication which connects all mobiles using wireless network.
In initial ages GSM technology was only transfering of speech i.e voice calls. that was the first generation of GSM.
IN second generation of GSM we have Voice calls + SMS services(short messaging services)+ GPRS (slow internet connection upto 32 KBps approx). At present we in India have been using upto 2nd generation of GSM technology.
Now as the auction for 3G is over and services are on the way to go.We will have features of 2G + fast internet connection upto 16MBps or may be more than this+awsome features of DATA and related applications as a developer to some extent to create client specific customized features with faster response from network.

It's a method for computer traffic for mobile units, making it possible to surf the internet with a smartphone and similar gadgets.
it is a usb that lets you use internet anywere for a price but u can only rent them i think
yes it is. In your phone or iPod, in the top left hand corner, You will see the 3G logo and bars. Those bars show you that you have service and with those bars, you can access the internet
The service 3G is what is known as mobile internet. This service is used by cell phone providers to allow people to use their bandwidth.
I wont be able to explain it completely but will give two links that can help you to understand it http://abcgeorgiesamuel.blogspot.in/2010/11/what-is-2g3g4g-spectrum.html http://www.telcoma.in/en/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/3g-spectrum-india1.jpg The first link is a blog and second is the allocation of 3g spectrum in india based on frequencies
