NO. 44mag is much larger than the 44spec. You can however fire 44 special in 44mag.
When you have an even number of numbers, you find the median by averaging together the two middle values, in this case 42 and 44. Add the two numbers (42+44=86) and divide by 2 (86/2 = 43).
