E-9 means the battery is low. Change the battery.
If you still get the message than the battery needs to be replaced and the meter needs to be reset. Take the battery out. Press the left arrow key on the front. Insert a new battery (do not turn the machine on). Press the left arrow button again. Now you should be prompted to set the time and date. Once you have done that, power the meter off and you should be all set. Of course, they don't tell you any of this in the manual.
Considering they charge you $105 for 100 test strips you would think they could have an up to date manual on their website... but they don't because they suck.
battery low
How can we changed E9 to E7

the lesser known E9 rank is Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps.
what does e9 mean on your glucose meter
If En = 2n then E9 = 2*9 = 18
Sergeant Major is E9 which is the highest NCO "pay grade" in the marines. Command Sergeant Major is E9 as well but has more seniority than just a Sergeant Major. Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps is also E9 but has the most seniority of any NCO in the marines. E9 means that you are enlisted and you are rank 9. E9 is used to represent the pay grade.
To change the visa status from E9 to E7 in Korea, simply visit the immigration offices.
4,375,000,000 could be written as 4.375 E9, where "E9" means "ten raised to the ninth power".
They are both cell references. A6 is the cell where column A meets row 6. E9 is where column E meets row 9.
Depends on how streamlined the 'mass' is. My last one with an E9 went about 5,000 ft with half that weight.
