Convection current is the flow of hot fluid in a circular pattern.
A convection current is a form of transfer of energy. It occurs mainly in liquids, but it can also occur in gases. In a convection current, the particles with greater energy (the particles that are hotter) rise because they become less dense. As they rise, particles with less energy (cooler particles) rush in to replace the particles that rose as they are more dense. You can see this happening with sea and land breezes.

∙ 13y agoit is what causes the earth crust to move: the magma is heated by the outer core the hotter magma becomes less dense and moves upwards to the crust therefore causing a mountain to form. its how the Himalayan mountains become taller each year.
To make the explanation better it is when the dense material near the bottom of the upper mantle heats up and gets more dense. this make it float up to the top. next the fluid spreads out to the side of the mantle. when the fluid cools it becomes more dense and floats to the bottom. Gravity then pulls the liquid back to the center therefore the process is repeated.
