it is a Mexican monster that kills goats and other small animals to then suck the blood out of them. first reported incidences being in Puerto Rico during 1995, but incidences happen everywhere from Texas to Florida in the united states and parts of south America. but similar incidences have happened since 1975 in Moca Puerto Rico under the name "El Vampiro de Moca" (The Vampire of Moca) though this was originally thought to be the work of a satanic cult, and some say even as far back as the 1950's.
the name "chubacabra" was coined by comedian Silverio Perez after one of the first 1995 incidences. the term literally means "goat sucker"
description of the creature varies from a small hairless dog like creature with long fangs to a 6 foot tall reptilian creature. but the most popular being a short reptilian creature with thin quills going down the spine. theories behind the creature vary from a form of animal, a demon of some sort, to some extraterrestrial pet left behind but there are no real answers, as is with most cryptozoological creatures (or "cryptids" for short) actual sightings are rare, most incidences are just the finding of the animal corpse the next morning.
