I can't be exact with every city but for the most part, Sweden seems to have the highest overall crime rate in Europe. The numbers of reported crimes have increased radically since national statistics began in 1950.

Glasgow has often been referred to as the most dangerous city in a developed world. (When compared to US cities like Washington DC, Detroit, New Orleans, St. Louis, Charlotte, the murder rate is higher in the US than any country in Europe. Robberies, burglaries, cyber crime, kidnappings, ect are MUCH higher in Europe than the US.) For the most part, Scotland and Northern Ireland have some of the highest crime rates in all of Europe.

I just saw the officials number for the belgian police, and it seems like elgium is overall twice as violent as the united states.

Belgium has a population of about 10 million peoples with about 1000 murders in 2009, if you put it like the usa with 300 million,s peoples, Belgium would have has 30 000 murders per year while the US has 16 000.

Even whashington (one of the city with the highest rate of murder) won't be on top of belgian cities.

For instance, Washington has a population of about 600 000 residents & have 143 murders, yet Antwerp is a city with 470 000 residents and had 154 murders in 2009 that makes a murder rat of 36 per 100 000, almost equal Detroi who is 40 per 100 000.

Liege, a city with only 192 000 residents almost equal the number of murders of Miami who has 433 156 residents (56 for Liege & 59 for Miami).

Anderlecht with about 100 000 residents has 20 murders... almost like Campton

The thing is that crime was made famous in the US by movies & in USA, crime stats are public so everybody knows while in Europe, we do Save not show crime rate & barely talk about it so we tend to think it is safer while it is not.
