Germany does not have a national flower, its national symbol is the Bundesadler (federal eagle). Some claim that it is the corn flower, but this is a fallacy. The corn flower was adopted by Prussia as national flower in 1810 following the death of the Prussian queen Luise (mother of the future Kaiser Wilhelm I). The state of Prussia effectively ceased to exist in 1871 with the proclamation of the (second) German Empire.
