Many countries have better health care coverage than we do. German health care is very good and they cover all of their people. The Swiss and Swedes have excellant care, but they pay high taxes for the services they get. The English and Canadian governments have good health care. If you get hurt as tourist in many of these countries you are taken care of just like the citizens of the country. Russia doesn't have good health care and I would leave the country before I would stay in a Russian hospital. The Spanish and Italian aren't bad, but I think the French are better. All in all for the amoiunt of medical knowledge that we have it is a shame that we don't take care of our citizens.

Here in America, we work for and buy our health care policies with minimal aid from our government if were eligible. Why can't we be like Canada where everyone has health insurance?

AnswerMost Canadians hate the government controlled health care. Just ask one. Taxes go up and the quality of the medical care goes down.AnswerMost Canadians wouldn't trade their health care coverage for anything. The United States is the only developed country that doesn't offer subsidized or socialized medicine. You'd be hard-pressed to find many people in countries outside the US willing to trade their health care protection and costs for ours.

What does Obama think about healthcare?

He believes in universal and mandatory health insurance coverage for all citizens. As for actual health care, I think he realizes that it is too expensive in the US and that costs need to be contained. However, I do not think he has any plans to do anything about health care costs.

What conditions led to the passage of HIPPA?

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was enacted by the U.S. Congress in 1996. It protects health insurance coverage for workers and their families when they change or lose their jobs in that the waiting period for the new coverage must credit the time you had with your prior coverage - "credible coverage." HIPAA provides things like guaranteed ability to transfer you're medical coverage from one employer to another, without a new preexisting clause. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) website, Title I of HIPAA protects health insurance coverage for workers and their families when they change or lose their jobs. Title II of HIPAA, the Administrative Simplification (AS) provisions, requires the establishment of national standards for electronic health care transactions and national identifiers for providers, health insurance plans, and employers. The AS provisions also address the security and privacy of health data. The standards are meant to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the nation's health care system by encouraging the widespread use of electronic data interchange in the US health care system.
